What’s an early user?

So what is an early user, exactly?

Here’s the legal definition, which you can read on our Legal page:

An “Early User” is anyone who downloads the Claro waiting list app via the app store, verifies their email and completes the following tasks:

– Connects at least one bank account
– Successfully passes KYC & AML checks (our identity checks)
– Completes the Claro suitability quiz
– Sets a minimum of one goal
– Deposits a minimum of £1 GBP
– Has at least one coaching call

Investing fees

If you choose to invest, the following fees will apply.

Platform fee explained

Claro currently doesn’t charge a platform fee for the first £2,500 you invest on the platform.

Anything above £2,500 will be charged at 0.45% per year accrued daily and charged monthly. We will deduct this fee from the amount you invest on the platform and it will be reflected in your account.

Please note we don’t charge a platform fee for any cash or ultra-low risk portfolios held on Claro.

Portfolio fee explained

These are fees charged by the fund providers (e.g. Vanguard or iShares), not by Claro. The fees are incorporated into your daily fund valuation.

The average portfolio fee is 0.19% but it can range from 0.08% – 0.55% depending on the exact portfolio you choose (theme and risk level).

Market spread explained

All trading activity is subject to market spread fees and these are considered standard fees. We work hard to choose funds with the smallest spreads and we combine customers’ orders when trading to minimise this cost.

Portfolio fee = 0.16%*£1000 = £1.60/year
Market spread = 0.05%*£1000 = £0.50/year
Total costs = £2.10/year

Jenny – invests £3,000

Jenny selects the Claro medium risk Mega Mix portfolio (0.16% portfolio fee) for his home buying goal.
Platform fee = 0.45%*(£3000-£2500) = £2.25/year
Portfolio fee = 0.16%*£3000 = £4.80/year
Market spread = 0.05%*£3000 = £1.50/year
Total costs = £8.55/year
